Battle Helm

Whenever I see a band name that has anything Neuro in it I immediately assume that I'm in for something very technical and cerebral. That maybe we?re in for the next Meshuggah or a new Atheist or maybe somebody picking up where Watchtower left off. Of all the bands mentioned above I understand Atheist the best and Meshuggah the least. That doesn't mean that I can't appreciate what they do. Neuronia lean the most towards Meshuggah without being as complicated or complex. With a base of thrash metal they build a musical house closer to Picasso than Dali, more Cubism than Surrealism so to speak. Closer to mainstream metal than to avant-garde. Do I like it? On any given day I wouldn't put it on but when the need for something outside the box show it's ugly face I might pick Neuronia as entertainment.

Well, once I am done with these guys, they don’t want to have anything to do with Lords Of Metal anymore. What Neuronia shows me of their skills on their sophomore album ‘Follow The White Mouse’ doesn’t spike my interest in their previous release. What an uninspired, spineless load of crap geriatric metal this is…
Let’s start with the title. Have you ever heard anything more stupid? ‘Follow The White Mouse’, it probably bears this kind of philosophical depth that we by capitalism poisoned Western Europeans don’t understand, or more probable they ran out of white rabbits so they thought to come up with another rodent. Although I have learned that rabbits aren’t rodents but grazers… Yeah right. As dumb as the title sounds so superficial is the music. They have made an official video for ‘Put Your Dukes Up’, I should advice you to listen/view it, and you might have heard the entire album.
As shallow as everything is recorded, so weak are the performances. The drums sound flat, no depth whatsoever in the sound and the guitars have this sound I produce when I am in the toilet producing gas while taking my morning dump and the vocals… Shall I be silent about vocals? I got a subscription to bands with singers that know how to screw up an album professionally with their mooing and barking that they want to sell for technical vocal parts… Given the fact that Poland is about 975 kilometers away from my home, that as long as they release it over there, it is far enough away for me. The sadness…

Briefly I would call this phenomenon post death/doom. Here you can hear something from Convulse, something of Pyogenesis and Pungent Stench. But nevertheless NEURONIA has its own individuality which distinguishes them from the above bands.
Intro and first song past somehow but since the second song (a definite hit!) starts it’s becomes more amusing to listen to this orgy. Frequent change of rhythm, varied vocals (two vocalists in the band), unexpected melodic guitar solos (very droll moment a la sitar) and confident drums talk about teamwork of musicians and their extraordinary fantasy. As a result despite a few damp of sound - the album has turned out interesting and certainly not boring! Honestly this album called positive emotions and pleased me by simple but catchy melodies and exuberant energy. Unfortunately now is a little bit of such kind of music and NEURONIA - a band with great creative potential. We can say that Metal Scrap found the diamond. While not faceted but nevertheless a diamond!

Atmosfear Magazine #8

The second album of the Polish band NEURONIA released by Ukrainian label Total Metal Records (a division of Metal Scrap Records). I do not know how to call that play the Poles by one word, as there are mixed devil knows what. There are death metal, there is crossover, there are punk, but at some points open voice of vocalist sends us in to heavy metal, which is not quite true, but the idea is understandable. Plus is that all it sounds nice and monolithic and does not split into components. Of analogies: track "Make Them Die" recalls the avant-garde Slovaks LUNATIC GODS. The track "White Mouse" recalls project of such monsters as SEPULTURA and FEAR FACTORY, called NAIL BOMB. The track "Faster" can safely be attributed to punk. The album is fun and unusual.

Variety Of Death Zine

Neuronia are a band from Poland that plays a melodic form of heavy/death metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "Follow The White Mouse" which was released by Metal Scrap Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some brutal blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the synths when they are utilized bring a dark sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine melodic death metal with traditional heavy metal while the lead guitars are very chaotic sounding death metal guitar solos and leads that also utilize influences from traditional rock music, as for the acoustic  guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking and exotic sounding scales to enhance the darkness of the music.
Vocals are a mixture of deep death metal growls and rough sounding clean singing vocals that bring in a groove and traditional metal/rock element to the music as well as a brief use of spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover dark and hateful themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound to it.
In my opinion Neuronia are a very good sounding melodic death metal/heavy metal/hard rock hybrid and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Make them Die" "November Sky" and "Put Your Dukes Up". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Terroraiser #46, 2011

I would not categorize the music of this Polish band (even the label releasing used fairly streamlined wording Melodic Post Death Doom Metal). I will say this: I really was reminded of some sort sleep finally mad CORROSION OF CONFORMITY with old school hardcore, modern stoner and a lot of other things. Music is woven of many pieces, at first look unrelated with each other harmoniously. However, on second look this relationship was not always observed because of what seems chaotic. It’s interesting but not always. Generally quite an unusual album with the contents of which still need to learn before buying - such a mixture is not suitable for everyone.

Trafila sie jednak okazja i … Jakiez bylo moje zdziwienie kiedy zapodalem sobie „Follow The White Mouse”. Wejscie w „Make Them Die” lekko w stylu southern, a pozniej juz bardziej … no wlasnie, jak? Ocierajaca sie o Thrash np.: „Slipping into Oblivion” i „White Mouse”. Innym razem mamy bardziej punk’owe oblicze, ktore kojarzy mi sie z Dezerterem. Zreszta calosc wlasnie ma najwiecej cech punk’a z mocnym i ciezkim brzmieniem. Natomiast rockowy sznyt zastosowali chlopaki w „November Skies” i „Put Your Dukes Up”, gdzie obok lzejszej muzyki pojawil sie czysty wokal.

If you remember Pungent Stench, you'll enjoy this band. "Follow The White Mouse" features an avalanche of guitars hooks with a modernized production and creative vocals. Neuronia is a promising band that will disconnect you from the reality. Heavy and precise!
