Metallian

Heavy/power metal with a huge nod to the conventions of the sub-genre is the name of the game here and the quintet certainly sticks to what makes metal metal and makes metal true. The full-length comes across as a complete package that nonetheless nods too vigorously to what has come before and falls short slightly in the quality compartment. There is absolutely nothing here that could be categorized as bad and indeed there is quite a bit that is quite good, but one cannot help but feel that the band falls short of excellence on multiple tracks.
There is a song called Day Of Revenge that reminds this writer of a single off Galmet’s The Hellmet demo. There is a prevalent guitar tone that could be Primal Fear’s and rhythms and melodies owing some to Helloween and Jorn. The singer could use some more range (which he apparently can deliver if you listen to Lzy Wiekow) and the bass could come out of the shadows. The band’s lead guitars are top-notch, however, and strengthen the band’s case whenever and wherever they appear.
The CD enjoys a clear and clean sound. Is the band’s monicker a play on words to ‘Divine Keep’?

The Metal Mag

Polish Heavy Metal band. Wow such a beauty is amazing and I’m glad to hear that pearl. Every Metalheads need that album. Pure melodies, great riffs a nice cover and cool lyrics. The band obviously took a year to accomplish this masterpiece and I’m glad they managed to get that so perfect. Influences are ranging from RAM, Helloween, Judas Priest, Iron Kingdom, Starblind … 12 tracks with two bonuses just shows the guys have great inspiration

Metal Centre

The Polish band released their second album, I could be say the release is at their tenth anniversary. And in 2016 this album appeared under the mark of the Ukrainian labels – Total Metal Records and Metal Scrap Records. These labels, I have to admit, they focus around many valuable bands from different genres of Metal music.
DIVINE WEEP belongs to those bands that faithfully follow their idols, following their clue, but I want not to say – they imitate them… In the case of DIVINE WEEP, this is a tribute to Heavy Metal, to the classics of this genre, especially to New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). Beginning from the cover and ending to the lyrical and music themes, here we are dealing with pure, unpolluted, classic Heavy Metal…
The compositions are really typical for the genre. You can hear similarities to IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST or HELLOWEEN and the like. Every sound, every phrase is typical for this style… The dynamic and galloping pace, the energetic (sometimes belligerent) riffs, the melodic and climatic, spatial (sometimes virtuosic) solos, the sunging-screaming vocals and the catchy refrains, the climate full of pathos and heroism… These are the attributes of this genre…
Of course, the whole is soaked in a large dose of guitar-vocal melodies and emotional raptures. It should also be stressed that the vocalist Igor Tarasiewicz is really good. He sings in high ranges very well. He can melodically singing and aggressively screaming even in low and aggressive ranges. Many Polish power-heavy-metal vocalists do not quite cope with their singing. And he is really professional vocalist.
In the tracks “Tears of the Ages” and “Lzy wieków” (the Polish equivalent of the previous track) guest starred Wojciech Hoffmann (from the legendary Polish band – TURBO) who played a guitar solo. I think this was probably a great honor for the band.
To be honest, it makes no sense to deliberate on the essence of imitation in a music. One should choose what is more important – a preservation of tradition or an implementation of innovation. I think these both values ​​are right and a band has to determine, which way to follow. However thanks to such bands like DIVINE WEEP the tradition does not disappear.
In the 1990s Metal was clearly Metal … Nowadays more and more often it is not known whether Metal is already Core – or maybe simply Rock?

AEA ZINE

Recorded from March – September 2015, Polish classic heavy metal outfit Divine Weep deliver 50 minutes of traditional heavy metal music in the vein of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Helloween. Soaring melodic vocals underpinned by tasteful soling and a very adept rhythm section showcase this well produced and attention grabbing release. Production is clear enough for all parts to be heard but not overdone. Lyrically, existential themes and ideas of fantasy are explored. “Day of Revenge” is probably an attempt at rock star glory with its chorus lending itself more to a hard rock than metal sound “The Mentor” and “Never Ending Path” are probably the best songs on this 6-track release. A re-recording of “Age of the Immortal” rounds out the release which may be of interest to fans of the band. Guest musician Wojciech Hoffman also plays a solo on the title track in attempts to add diversity to the album. Whilst a quite captivating release technically and compositionally, the listener can’t help but feel they’ve heard this same formula tried and tried before. This isn’t a bad thing by any means if you’re a fan of the style. However, there is nothing to separate this release from the plethora of other releases in the marketplace for this genre. This is despite the album being a very enjoyable listen. The band just simply need to put more of their own style into their compositions instead of leaning so heavily on their Maiden/Priest influences.

Slowly We Rot #9/2016

This second album from Divine Weep celebrates the band’s 20 years of activity, and although not being very active until now, it seems they have finally decided to take the bull by the horns and after releasing the album by themselves they signed with Stormspell Records for a US territory release, and this year here I have the new version of this album released by Total Metal / Metal Scrap Records from Ukraine. The Polish band seems to have left
their initial style (Melodic Black Metal) behind and are now a pure Power Metal band complete with catchy guitar riffs, long melodic guitar leads and solos, technical rhythm section and a stand-out vocalist, all in place to impress the True Metal community. The vocalist has a strong Eastern European accent to his English lyrics, but if you think you won’t be bothered by that you’ll discover a really interesting voice and a frontman who really gives all he’s got reaching impressive heights at times and always keeping your attention high, that’s why, despite the mentioned strong accent I believe his voice is the band’s highlight and leading element. I have already mentioned the technical rhythm section, but the guitar work is as technical as well, very versatile and open to testing and offering new horizons, mostly inspired by Power Metal and Heavy Metal, of course. So all in all I think Divine Weep made the right choice when signing with two different labels for this new album, it deserves to be listened by as many fans as possible and maybe, who knows, it might be their long-awaited break, too.

Jedna z mojich krvnÿch skupin, skonstatovali by na hematoldgii. Svizné, znacne melodické, primerane nâpadité, instrumentâlne zvlâdnuté na kvalitnej ûrovni. V skladbâch ma zaujala hlavne schopnosf strunobijcov prirodzene a l’ahko prechâ- dzat heavy metalovÿmi a hard rockovÿmi pasâzami, menit rytmus a nâlady, со robia s citom a bravürne. Tento album vysiel pôvodne ako nezâvislâ vecicka v □ktobri 2015, ale ukrajinské vydavateTstvo ho vydalo znovu a rozhodne urobilo dobre. Düfam, ze najnovsia zmena na poste spevâka je uz poslednâ a skupina si bude odhodlane raziï svoju cestu nepreniknutehiÿm lesom. Zatiaf sa skvele ohânajü sekerami vôkol seba. Poslednâ skladba „Lzy wiekôv” v rodnom jazyku je vyberanou ceresnickou na torte.

Приподнятое пауэрное звучание и довольно грузные, увесистые гитары – вот, пожалуй, как можно вкратце охарактеризовать данный альбом с фэнтезийной обложкой. Это, безусловно, не пауэр в его классическом виде: один вокал по тембру и манере ближе к хэви – современному хэви, который вобрал в себя черты некоторых других жанров. Вероятно, похожих проектов можно вспомнить немало, но DIVINE WEEP вы наверняка нашли бы не там, где искали бы, потому что эти ребята не откудато, а из Польши. В звучании, если прислушаться, конечно, проскальзывает манера польских металлистов, но всётаки группа в таком стиле довольно неожиданна для родины BEHEMOTH, DECAPITATED или VADER. Особенно необычно звучат медленные композиции и песни с замедленными вставками (“Tears Of The Ages”, “Age Of The Immortal”): лирическими балладами их никак не назвать, но мелодичная структура этих треков, куда вклиниваются динамичные риффы, обращает на себя внимание. Стоит также упомянуть мощные барабаны, периодически выходящие на первый план (характерный пример – “The Mentor”). Впечатление от прослушивания диска остаётся хорошее, и можно сделать простой вывод, что участники группы играть действительно умеют. Альбому не хватает только пары экспериментальных бонустреков – многие песни альбома интересно звучали бы, например, в оркестровой аранжировке. В любом случае, это только второй полноформатный альбом коллектива, и у ребят ещё всё впереди.

1997 als Black Metal-Band gestartet, haben die Polen von Divine Weep in den letzten Jahren ihren Weg zum Power Metal gefunden. Auf ihrem zweiten Album verfolgen sie die Pfade, die Bands wie Malice oder Iron Maiden in den 80ern beschritten haben. Dabei ist die Musik der fünf Herren qualitativ durchaus ansprechend. DIVINE WEEP wissen wie man abwechslungsreiche, funktionierende Nummern schreibt. ,The Mentor’ oder .Never Ending Path’ haben Drive, Spielwitz und laden zum Mitwippen ein. Dabei wird es in den meisten Fällen aber wahrscheinlich auch bleiben. Warum sollte man zu DIVINE WEEP greifen, wenn man sich auch gleich die Originale anhören kann, die am Ende damals doch etwas mehr Feuer hatten als der abgeklärte Vortrag der Polen. So ist „Tears Of The Ages“ zwar ein technisch ansprechendes, gut gemachtes Album, es fehlt ihm jedoch an Emotionen und neuen Ideen. Hier muss wirklich nur derjenige zugreifen, der alles im Bereich des klassischen Heavy/Power Metal in seinem Schrank stehen haben möchte.

Rock Hard

1995 mit melodischem Black Metal gestartet, sind die Polen DIVINE WEEP schon längst beim kraftvollen, ungeschwärzten Metal angekommen, der sich sein Melodiebewusstsein bewahrt hat, aber anstelle von Krachneigung lieber das eine oder andere progressive Break erlaubt. „Tears Of The Ages“ war schon vor knapp einem Jahr in digitaler Form erschienen, wurde nun jedoch vom ukrainischen Label Total Metal auf CD gepresst – eine Ehre, die diese gelungene Scheibe rundum verdient hat.

Lords Of Metal

It took a while before I found some information about this band on the internet, but as it turned out, that was due to my bad reading skills. This Polish band calls itself Divine Weep (and not Divine Heep as the logo looks like just as much) and plays a very decent portion of melodic coloured heavy metal. On ‘Tears Of The Ages’ the music bursts out surprisingly well with the excellent ‘Fading Glow’, which immediately marks one of the highlights on the album with its double bass drums, ripping guitars and surprising pace changes. Skipping a few (very fine) songs brings us to ‘Impetious Blade’, an amazing song that starts off with a tasty guitar intro and turns out to be one of the most versatile songs on the album. The more than fine vocals by Igor Tarasewicz have an impressive range and therefore give the music even more depth. A very good mastering and pretty artwork complete the image of this well above average product. Divine Weep is a band with quite an amount of potency, so let us hope we can hear more of them in the nearby future!

Desde las frías tierras polacas nos llega este segundo larga duración de DIVINE WEEP. Según la biografía del grupo, fue fundado en 1995 como una banda de Black Metal, evolucionando posteriormente, y tras varios parones y cambios de formación, al sonido que tienen actualmente, Heavy/Power Metal de corte clásico, claramente in) uenciado por las grandes bandas del género (IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, HELLOWEEN, …). Tras varias maquetas, lanzan su primer LP en 2013 “Age Of The Inmortal” pero no es hasta 2014 cuando completan la formación actual, con la que gra- ban el disco que presentamos a continuación, “Tears Of The Ages”.
El nombre de la banda atrae, la portada del disco también, la ambientación fantástico-medieval, el sonido es cañero y basado en los clásicos, tienen todos los elementos para que sea un gran disco, solo falta la chispa, ese algo que llega y te hace mover la cabeza como un poseso y, a mi juicio, también lo tienen. Los polacos han conseguido hilvanar una gran colección de canciones y un disco vibrante, lleno de energía y buenas canciones.
El sonido es bueno, quizás una producción más grandilocuente con unas guitarras más brillantes y una batería más poderosa les hubiera ayudado a terminar de pulir esta joya, aun así el sonido no desmerece para nada. Los temas están muy trabajados, se nota que llevan años trabajando los mismos temas, la mayoría aparece en maquetas o discos anteriores.
En general el disco suena a una mezcla entre el Power Metal alemán y la NWOBHM del principio de los 80, me resultan muy similares a mis adorados FIFTH ANGEL, uno de esos grupos que pasó sin pena ni gloria por los masi! cados 80. Un detalle a agradecer es que solo incluyan 8 temas y 2 bonus track, esto hace que no sobre ninguna canción y que te queden ganas de escuchar más material de ellos.
Comienza el disco con “Fading Glow”, toda una declaración de intenciones desde el inicio con grito a lo Halford incluido. Se nota mucho la in) uencia de los primeros IRON MAIDEN. Temazo en toda regla.
“The Mentor”, primera joya del disco, pero no la última. HEAVY METAL así, con mayúsculas. Una de esas canciones que cuando la escuchas en el coche te dan ganas de bajar la ventanilla y hacer los cuernos. Sonido muy GRAVE DIGGER. Brillan todos los músicos en este tema. Cambios de ritmo, ri’ s que se te meten en la cabeza como cuchillos a! lados. Quien haya perdido la esperanza de escuchar un buen disco de Heavy Metal a estas alturas de siglo, tiene que escuchar este “Tears Of The Ages”.
El tercer corte no baja la guardia “Day of Revenge” es un clásico instantáneo, ¡donde estaban escondidos estos polacos! Es un continuo deja vu de los sonidos clásicos del Heavy Metal. Otra joya.
Intro pausada, a lo IRON MAIDEN de la última época, “Last Breath” hace gala de un Speed Metal elegante con un estribillo muy pegadizo. Otra gran canción. Todo está en su sitio en este disco, ningún solo está de más, los arreglos suman. Trabajo muy inspirado. “Petri! ed Souls” es otra buena canción de Power Metal, quizá la más ) oja para mi gusto pero que supera igualmente el notable alto, sobre todo por el interludio lento que le da un toque elegante al tema.
“Imperious Blade”, recuerda a los HELLOWEEN de los Keeper. Contiene algunas de las melodías más memo- rables del disco. Este grupo está a un nivel muy alto. Séptimo corte, ¡cuidado! ¡GRAVE DIGGER, el enterrador del metal, viene desde ultratumba a robar nuestras sa- crílegas almas! “Never Ending Path”. Grandioso.
“Tears Of The Ages”, joya entre las joyas, tema que da título al disco, cabalgada a lo IRON MAIDEN y al lio. Me parece la propuesta más interesante del disco. Tema que originalmente estaba en la primera maqueta del grupo, donde todavía hacían Black Metal, el tema conserva un tono oscuro y esos teclados característicos del género pero es Heavy Metal sin contemplaciones. Me falta un bajo más al estilo Steve Harris, con más pegada, pero aun así, ninguna pega. Tema redondo.
Incluyen dos bonus track “Lzy Wiecow” cierra el disco, una adaptación en polaco de la canción anterior, y “Age Of The Inmortal” single del anterior disco, con la voz del cantante actual. Se nota un cambio de sonido, dejando al descubierto la mejora en cuanto a sonido y producción del grupo. Aun así muy buen tema.
Resumiendo, este disco ha sido un auténtico descubrimiento, una joya que cualquier amante del buen Heavy Metal no puede dejar escapar.

När det kommer til I klassiske metal- band fra Polen sä har vi en vinner. Divine Weep er et nytt bekjentskap her i garden, men et relativt | hyggelig et. Bandet byr pä et album fylt med driv og gode’täter, samt en god produksjon, noe som ikke alltid er standardvare fra polske band. Mye finurlig gitarspilling gjor dette litt over gjennomsnittet interessant. Vokalen er ikke alltid hält hundre prosent, men skjemmer ikke sä mye at det er plagsomt Gode later med «Day Of Revenge» i spissen gjor dette til en hyggelig lytt.

Juz demo “Age Of The Immortal” sprzed dwoch lat udowadnialo, ze w konwencji power/heavy metal bialostoczanie z Divine Weep czuja sie calkiem pewnie i stac ich na wiele, nie sadzilem jednak, ze na az tyle. Brakujacym ogniwem okazal sie nowy wokalista Igor Tarasewicz z ktorym Divine Weep maja szanse wejsc na znacznie wyzszy poziom. Igor, mimo mlodego wieku, jest juz bowiem wokalista kompletnym, z niewyobrazalna latwoscia radza sobie nie tylko z tymi wysokimi i najwyzszymi tonacjami, ale tez z nizszymi, pelnymi agresji partiami. A poniewaz Bartosz Kosacki, Dariusz Moroz, Janisz Grabowski i Dariusz Karpiesiuk sa do tego wysmienitymi muzykami i niezgorszymi kompozytorami, efekt koncowy w postaci dziesieciu utworow rzuca na kolana. Starsze utwory znane z demo zostaly tu przeanaranzowane, zagrane i zaspiewane tak, ze nie ma zadnego porownania z pierowotnymi wersjami, to relacja typu surowy prototyp – dopieszczona wersja finalna. Dopelnily je cztery nowe numery, mamy tez dwa bonusy, w tym “Lzy wiekow”, znane jeszcze z “Promo’97”. Co oistotne zespol rownie porywajaco prezentuje sie w rozpedzonych killerach z drapieznym spiewem, jak: “Fading Glow” czy “Never Ending Path”, sa kojarzace sie z motoryka najlepszego Dio numery w rodzaju “Last Breath”, czy wielowatkowa, epicka wrecz kom pozycja “Age Of The Immortal”. Nie brakuje tez ciekawych melodii, pasazy i unison, sporo tez efektowych gitarowych popisow, w tym goscinnego udzialu Wojciecha Hoffmanna (Turbo), a brzmienie calosci (Hertz/Dobra 12) jest mocarne i klarowne. W dodatku zespol rownie dobrze wypada z tym materialem na koncertach, udowadniajac, ze jest w stanie rownie dobrze wykonac na zywo wszystkie partie zarejestrowane w studio, dodajac do nich ogroma dawke energii. Jak dla mnie “Tears Of The Ages” to murowany faworyt do pierwszej trojki najlepszych metalowych plyt tego roku w Polsce, na swiecie Divine Weep tez moga sie z nim pokazac szkoda tylko przeogromna, ze Igor wlasnie rozstal sie zespolem…

XS ROCK

This is a really decent album, Hailing from Poland, Divine Weep have my attention from the first note. On the first time of hearing this band, it reminds me of Iron Maiden. I don’t compare bands to Iron Maiden very often, but these guys have talent and a great sound. Any Iron Maiden fan would really enjoy this album. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this and yet, I’ve stumbled upon a modern day band that can really shred. Musically, it’s really outstanding. The fact that they were virtually unknown to me before and this is an independently released album makes this even more amazing. Tears of the Ages and Age of the Immortal are both stand out tracks. With the lead singer’s vocals rivaling that of Bruce Dickinson in overall pitch and strength (at this point in his career). Yeah, I said it. Bruce still has the pipes and the power, but Igor Tarasewicz is like a young Bruce Dickinson in his prime. Overall this is a great album with rapid fire drums and shredding guitar solos that leaves you wanting more. If you get a chance to pick this up, you won’t be disappointed. It’s available on Amazon and other download sites as well as the physical CD being available through CDBaby.
